In June 2007, after the Toulon Tournament, Mensah had a successful trial period[2] with OGC Nice and was offered a three year contract to June 2010 by the Stade Municipal du Ray outfit.[3]
A hard tackling versatile central defender who can play any full back position, Yahaya was a member of the Ghana U20 team, that participated in the 2007 Toulon Tournament in France.[4] After playing so well in his short stint with the Ghana U20 team, Black Satellites, a senior call up was imminent. On 7 August 2007, young Yahaya was called up by Ghana Coach Claude Le Roy for a FIFA International friendly match against Senegal in the New Den Stadium in London, England on 21 August 2007.[5]
